In-Short
Why?
Most AI answers are too long by default. You ask a normal question, and the answer often turns into a small article. That is not always helpful. Sometimes you need direction, not a lecture. Adding short or very short forces AI to compress the answer before it starts writing.
Long Answers Waste Time Fast
A long answer looks useful, but it can hide the real point. You spend time reading, filtering, and guessing what matters. That creates disappointment. The answer may be correct, but still not useful. A shorter answer makes the value visible faster.
Short Prompts Force Better Thinking
When you add short, AI has less room to decorate the answer. It must choose what matters most. That makes the output sharper. Instead of five paragraphs of background, you get the main reason, the key risk, or the next action. This also works well with other practical prompts, like asking for options or rewrites. Check out my other article 6 Prompts That Fix AI, where the point is not to prompt more, but to prompt better.
